Sherwin Williams Certificated Fire Paint Systems for Steel - 30, 60, 90, 120 and 180 minutes

All Steel Fire Protection paints, no matter which Manufacturer provides them, require calculations for thickness (called the Wet Film Thicknesses, measured in Microns) using the official HpA Tables before anyone can legally offer a Certifiable Quotation for the coatings. The paint chosen will also be dependent on the Class of Exposure that the steel may be subjected to in service - click here for Corus Classification Guide.

If you provide us with your steel beam dimensions by telephone, fax or E Mail we will provide free of charge:

- an instant fixed price Quotation to include a Fire Certificate of Supply, delivery and a detailed Specification that complies with the HP/A Tables

- a Building Inspector ready Document Set, with Data Sheet and Paint Loadings Specification, ready for his or her approval

- free product support by telephone before, during and after application, to ensure that you meet the Fire Regulations

- a free simple to use Paint Wet Film thickness gauge, plus exact details of the coat thickness required for each beam

Don't get caught out by just buying Fire Paint - use our Free Service to ensure that the coatings are the correct thickness and match the Corrosion Protection Class required.

Sherwin Williams Industrial Fire Retardant Paint for the protection of Steel

Use our Sherwin Williams Intumescent Paint for steel as a base coat and then Flame Paint finish paint to protect the intumescent surface where necessary. Top coats may only be required if the painted steel will be exposed to high humidity, dampness or rubbing contact.

Sherwin Williams Intumescent Paints for steel are offered in both solvent and water based versions, and are easy to apply. They must be applied over a suitable anti-corrosion Primer, to prevent rusting. Galvanized Steel may require additional treatment before priming.

How steel is protected by Sherwin Williams Fire Retardant Paint

Protection is given by the underlying Intumescent layers of Intumescent Paint which expand rapidly in fire, working against the heating up effects - warping, twisting and buckling - which would lead to early collapse and reduced escape time.

We can provide Intumescent Paint prices based on the sizes and thicknesses of the steel to be protected, but some thin steel components cannot be insulated sufficiently using paint and will require Fire Board or similar heat insulating layers instead - e.g. sheet steel, corrugated roofing. Call us to check if your steel components are sufficiently thick to be Certified.
